Based on a Woolrich story and directed by Hitchcock in 1954, almost entirely on a one room set, it was inevitable it became a classic. James Stewart's lead character spends the movie in a wheelchair in his Greenwich Village apartment visited by his housekeeper and fiance and thinks he has witnessed some dark events amongst his neighbours in the block opposite.
