A fatalistic 1964 Yakuza Noir about a just released gang member and the bored rich girl who gambles in the same backrooms run by his mob. Nearly the whole of the film takes place indoors or at night which is an achievment in itself. Director Shinoda uses stylish images, dark atmosphere and a pared down storyline to give us almost a Japanese version of Jean Pierre Melville.
