Noirboiled Notes to see the level at which Gil Brewer is held amongst Noir purists. Occasional high points in Brewer's fairly prolific output as well as some tragic aspects of his own life as a dedicated pulp writer, for the likes of
Gold Medal, Fawcett, Avon and
Ace, remind me at various times of an illegitimate offspring of Goodis/Thompson.
He looked as if somebody had machine gunned his soul.
