Rhapsody in Blue

Listen to it's music and it's legends. Gaze at it's ruins and monuments. Walk it's sidewalks and run fingers upon the stone and bricks and steel of our right-angled streets. Breathe the air of the river breeze.

Never Talk to Strangers

It always takes one to know one stranger
                             Maybe we're just wiser now
Yeah, and been around the block so many times
                             That we don't notice
That we're all just perfect strangers
                             As long as we ignore
That we all begin as strangers
                             Just before we find
                             We really aren't strangers anymore

No Certain Place

Sometimes at Night

The first time you saw her, the way it hit you. And the way it's been coming back tonight, hitting you, hitting you. All right, for Christ's sake, cut it out. But i wonder if Firpo is still alive and sometimes at night he wakes up and remembers the way Dempsey hit him.

My Shadow is Running

Promise to Himself

It's a funny thing, a man can make a promise to his god, break it five minutes later and never think about it. With an idle shrug of his shoulders a man can break solemn promises to his mother, wife or sweetheart and except for a slight momentary twinge of conscience, he still won't be bothered very much. But if a man ever breaks a promise to himself he disintegrates. His entire personality and character crumble into tiny pieces and he is never the same man again.

You Look Like the Devil

You look like the devil in the morning
'Cause you've been out working through the night
                      Holding hands and kissing everybody
I'm glad to say that you can't blow my mind

You look like the devil when you're crying
I'm so glad you feel so strong that way
You've got a great big smile for everybody
And i'm so glad i met you yesterday

Dark Contours

Wes saw flat misty fields, fences, barns, the dark contours of distant hills. Waking again to the faint sound of music, the motor silent, only Babe and Bobby gone from the car, the others sleeping, Wes saw a low building in the fog with ' Regal Pale'  glowing in blue neon in a window, and was overcome with dejection.
