The remake isn't bad. Worth a look. That's a good point though. Over the years they've remade the likes of Get Carter, Rear window, Night of the Hunter, Detour. Can anyone think of some good quality Noir remakes ?
Well, I thought the Kiss of Death remake was very good, although I prefer the original. I thought Richard Price did a good job rethinking the original and writing a Kiss for the 90s. I think House of Bamboo is superior to The Street With No Name, with deeper characterizations and the presence of Robert Ryan. Most of them--Vicki, Laura--are pretty bad, although Richard Boone is good in Vicki. I think Broken Lance is on a par with House of Strangers.
Great movie I've watched a dozen times. Did not know about remake. Is nothing sacred anymore?
