The Burglar

As matters stood life offered very little aside from the occasional plunge into luxurious sensation, which never lasted for long and even while it happened it was accompanied by the dismal knowledge that it would soon be over.

David Goodis
The Burglar
1953

Set in his native Philadelphia one of David Goodis' most haunting books and stylishly accurate 1958 movie adaptation featuring old Noir stalwart Dan Duryea and the screenplay written by Goodis himself.
