Lying Awake

Lying awake, it's 4am
It is not too late
To meet my broken bottle date
Lying awake, it's 10am
It is not too late
To turn around and do it again

Anything May Happen

I ate dinner at Musso's in Hollywood .......... The steak came the way i liked it, medium rare, garnished with mushrooms, with a pile of fried onion rings on the side. I had a pint of Black Horse ale for dessert, and when i was finished i felt good. I had the kind of excitement more prophetic than tea-leaves, that lifts you when anything may happen and probably will.

Classic Fragments 4 - Corridor Glance

One of the best ever combinations of music and image in a retro Noirish setting.

Cincinnati Kid

The game, like an endless circling bird, moved with a slow inexorable pace toward the center pot of money that grew magically with each dealt hand. Revolving hands of cards accompanied with a musical comment of silver upon silver tossed into the center of the table as the chant was heard, so soft as to be a litany calling, on ghostly assistance and deliverance.

Tempted

I bought a novel, some perfume
A fortune all for you
But it's not my conscience
Hating to be untrue
I asked of my reflection
What is there to do ?

Nightfall

Nightfall beautifully evokes the world of bus station lockers, casual pick-ups in bars, and newstands hawking out-of-town papers to the homesick : a lonely transient America.

The Long Goodbye

There was a girl beside him. Her hair was a lovely shade of dark red and she had a distant smile on her lips and over her shoulders she had a blue mink that almost made the Rolls-Royce look like just another automobile. It didn't quite. Nothing can.

Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most

All alone, the party is over
Old man winter was a gracious host
                                               But when you keep praying
for snow to hide the clover
Spring can really hang you up the most
