Don't You Think That I Count the Days

Don't you think that i count the days ? There is only one day left ; always starting over. It is given to us at dawn and taken away at dusk.

Found you Wanting

They're the kind of dames who can wear floor-length gowns and look completely naked. The kind with hair piled up on their head like compliant serpents, or falling down in smooth lustrous waves. Dames with hard faces and mocking smiles and eyes that sized you up and found you wanting  ..... but you'd do for now.

The Walls Drew Back

At One o'clock in the morning Carl, the night porter, turned down the last of three table lamps in the main lobby of the Windemere hotel. The blue carpet darkened a shade or two and the walls drew back into remoteness. The chairs filled with shadowy loungers. In the corners were memories like cobwebs.

All Washed Out

I'm all done with hating you. It's all washed out of me. I hate people hard, but I don't hate them very long.
