Richard Hudson was about to steal a used car lot and every automobile on it.
At the corner he waited for the green light before crossing the busy street. In San Francisco he would have dashed across, dodging between cars, but in Los Angeles to cross against a red light means a ticket for jaywalking and/or sudden death.
