  1. Private Hell 36 (1954) with Ida Lupino. Steve Cochran and Howard Duff. Two detectives investigate a theft and get a bit too close to the loot. Taut. Touches all the noir bases. Also, Timetable (1956) with Mark Stevens. The "bad cop" is an investigator with an insurance company who has all the earmarks of a traditional gumshoe who investigates a murder/robbery on a train. The action takes us down Mexico way which, by the way, could be the topic of an entire post.
