Our being in the know creates another type of suspense - having explored both Scottie and Madeleine's internal worlds, we get to watch them clash and collide, painstakingly aware of the tragic implications that permeate the core of their relationship drenched in illusion which, therefore, neither can, nor ever will be based in truth and authenticity.
