Gil Brewer

It only takes a quick look at David Rachels' excellent Noir fiction blog Noirboiled Notes to see the level at which Gil Brewer is held amongst Noir purists. Occasional high points in Brewer's fairly prolific output as well as some tragic aspects of his own life as a dedicated pulp writer, for the likes of Gold Medal, Fawcett, Avon and Ace, remind me at various times of an illegitimate offspring of Goodis/Thompson.
