Our Every Choice

It is ironic that the visual signature of Noir has been so defined by silhouette and stark black-and- white, when the genre's true colors are shades of grey. It posits a world of complexity and interdependence, in which humans are incapble of functioning as the autonomous moral actors we want to be, because our every choice is influenced by distant and unassailable systems of power.
