In the Back Seat

I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Times Square and step on it !'

Pick up

I finished my drink quickly and left the bar. I didn't feel like drinking anymore. I crossed the street and waited for my cable car. In a few minutes it dragged up the hill, slowed down at the corner and i jumped on. I gave the conductor my fare and went inside where it was warmer. Usually i sat in the outside section where i could smoke, but i was cold that night, my entire body was chilled.

Jazz Noir 9

I didn't even bother to listen to it afterwards. Got through playing it, packed up my horn and walked out.

They Call an ill Wind

You know, sometimes a bad memory is like what they call an ill wind. It can blow somebody luck.

A Successful Woman

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

In This World

Now as i look around it's mighty plain to see
This wide wicked world is a funny place to be
The gamblin' man is rich and the workin' man is poor
And i ain't got no home in this world anymore
